When we started to plan our trip to Málaga we, of course, went online to check out what kind of sights there would be to see. We saw a YouTube video about this place and simply had to pay the Antigua Casa de Guardia a visit.

The people of Antigua Casa de Guardia have been making the famous Malaga wines in the Málaga region for the longest time, and the different varieties are there for all to see to prove it!

Whilst I was sampling the selection, Jules was making another of his live feeds. And having walked around in sunshine and rain, we simply had to taste their tapas!

I know that you are wondering about the chalk markings on the table. It’s a way of keeping the tab. The staff marks the purchases on the place where the customer is standing, so it is easy to pay when leaving! Unless of course you have had one too many to dri.. taste and you count the amount the wrong way around. 🙂

The Verdict

This bodega is definitely one of our favourite haunts! The staff are really nice and seem to love to sing and chat with the customers! No wonder people kept leaving them tips – us included!

It can, and most likely is, packed with locals and tourists alike in the touristy season, so be prepared for that. There are no seating areas at least inside the bodega, which makes it a place to visit, not to drink yourself silly all night long.

But definitely worth a visit or two!
